I shopped at Freddy's yesterday and was amazed at the quality and service. I was welcomed in and felt at home, the guy helping me to find my new speargun (Ocean Hunter SGS 800) was really helpful and new what he was talking about, the gun itself came with a bungie attached and was perfect for me as a teenager. The man who helped me knew lots about spearfishing and the quality and essentials that i would need. Thank you.
Hey Fisho's, In my opinion Freddie's Fishing World at Broadmeadow is the best most helpful Fishing and Tackle store in the Newcastle area, the guys there are extremely helpful and knowledgeable, it's never a problem for them to spend a lot of their time helping you out, they know their products and are just not all about making a sale, they have an awesome range and their pricing is very good, I spent 30 odd minutes in their the other day and was extremely impressed with the customer service and just how helpful and willing the staff where to give me their time. So well done Freddie's I'll definitely be back, thank you for your friendly professionalism.....
Guys there very helpful,knew the area I fished in even though from another area, and helped select lures for those conditions, didn't try to upsell us and showed us the better range over the more expensive gear. More than happy and will definitely be shopping there again.
This is more advice than a review. I hope the management takes time to read it. I have shopped here for the last year and always struggled to understand why the staff seem to be spending more time eating or standing out side smoking. It seems a little odd to say but the guys that work there are top blokes. The advice they give is top notch if you can get it. I went in last week to purchase 4 top quality rods for my boat. After 30 mins of waiting and trying to make it known that I wanted some help the member of staff who seemed to know what staff was talking about came and helped. We identified the kit that I wanted and I chose some line to go on the reels. I asked if staff would put the line on for me and staff said no problem and put the rods behind the counter. After 15 mins wait I asked another chap If staff was going to put the line on for me. Staff laughed and said no way on a Saturday they are too busy. The management of Freddys fishing world is aware that comments are being posted by some of our competitors to try to dishonour our name.
Most of the time we only have two staff members in our store not four, and we offer to load reels when purchased with us, and occasionally through peak times, like Christmas, we might ask the customer to leave their reels with us for an hour or two to get them loaded.
We run on few staff to keep our prices as low as possible for our customers, which is why I work through my lunch break grabbing a bite between customers.
I admit there are times we have been busy restocking our shelves and have missed serving our customers as we should have and for that we apologise and are trying to find better solutions in the future

Geoff I am not a competitor. I was a regular customer. I was also a huge fan of your shop and would have never considered going to another shop. I think the other store is shocking and they don't seem to know anything about the gear they sell. What I wrote in my review was designed to help you not be obstructive. I am not sure if you recall me visiting a couple of weeks ago. I really was shocked as I did used to spend a lot of money with you guys. What I wrote is true. I even went in to super cheap stewing and came back and still got no help. If your service matched the stock you have I would be in there every other day. But for now I shop elsewhere because I feel like a valued customer even though I now pay more for worse gear.
Product range quite good, but poorly presented. In part due to the slightly gloomy interior of the shop. Prices in line with competitors, so if you can find a member of staff who isn't busy eating behind the counter and doesn't seem to mind being disturbed by a customer, bargain hard.
