Please save your money and head down to Cheung Sing BBQ House which is only a block away where the food is what you expect it to be and without the ridiculous wait for sub-par "chinese" food. If you like waiting for 40 minutes for a simple shrimp fried rice and veggies while watching a table who came in later than you get served first, then this is your place.
Never felt so disrespected as a customer by restaurant staff and advise anyone to steer clear. Not worth your hard earned dollars on both terrible food and terrible service.
This place has the worst service of anywhere I've ever eaten. I've given them second and third chances because they do a great laksa and are very close to where we live but after my most recent experience I will never go back.
They are very slow to make takeaway, prioritising eat-in customers over takeaway while you wait so I decided to call in our order. We were told 20mins, so we waited 35mins and made our way over to collect our dinner. After standing at the counter being ignored for nearly 10mins the girl serving says "omlette? we don't do omlette?" With not many Chinese restaurants in the Maroubra Junction area, Hot Wok Kitchen is one of the popular go-to places for people to get their authentic Chinese food fix. The store occupies a decent space, enough for just around 20 customers to fill the entire room.
The food offerings are quite extensive, ranging from the individual noodle dishes up to some unique shared dishes that are rarely served in restaurants.
