Hotel Metropole

All I can say about this place is give it a miss. Okay, I've only been here once, and it seems as if they have more going on here than your standard pub (including a night-club and live music) however that doesn't mean that I actually liked the place – I didn't. I guess if there is one thing that really put me off this place was that when I walked in to order a beer I encountered a bartender that was incredibly guarded. In fact it felt as if it was a member's only club than a pub, and I have found member's only clubs to be much more welcoming than this place. In the end I ordered my beer, made my way out into the beer garden where I finished it off so that I could then make my way back to the railway station. In the end, I suspect that people aren't going to go out of their way to visit this pub, but if they are then I would suggest that the look for some place else to have a drink (and there are plenty in Ipswich).
