Le Traiteur
Le Traiteur - 'The Caterer'From the team behind Libertine comes this quintessentially French cafe, which bakes twice a day like the boulangeries of Paris. Stop by for an almond croissant or morning coffee, made with their signature blend and prepared by trained baristas. The mouth-watering gourmet baguette options include roasted duck with baked pear and caramelised onions; rabbit terrine with bitter leaves and hazelnut dressing; and vodka-cured ocean trout, dill creme fraiche and capers. Also, if you're planning a picnic or want the night off from cooking, everything on offer in the cafe is available for takeaway, from the pastries and terrines to the stocks, sauces and bottles of wine. A container of beef bourguignon prepared by chef Nick Creswick and a bottle of red could be the perfect winter warmer.

This is a lovely little spot for either a leisurely lunch or a quick bite before heading back to work. The French bistro style food is delicious without being pretentious. My lunch companion had the chicken chasseur which looked terrific. I indulged in the cheese souffle with roasted beets & brussel sprouts. I hate brussel sprouts, but these were really tasty!
Not an extensive wine list, but a nice selection of wines by the glass nonetheless. I will be sure to come back to try one of the baguettes. Fillings include roast beef, marinated salmon & roast duck. They do these in a lunch box special with a sweet & drink for $15
The sweet treats on offer also looked great in particular the almond croissants & petit tarts. Another great place for lunch in Melbourne how spoilt for choice are we?!!! :)
