Lockleys Hotel

We don't live on this side of town but decided on the spur of the moment to drop in for a meal as we were driving past. The service was friendly and courteous. We were seated almost immediately and menus were brought to our table. The wine and beer were cold and served with a smile. The meals were lovely, I had the barramundi and my husband had beef schnitzel, both were very fresh and the chips were hot. Again these were served with a friendly comment and smile. The prices were average hotel prices but I felt the service and quality of the meals were above average. We will definitely go back.

Even though I used to live near this pub (and in using the word near I actually mean a 20 minute walk) I never really frequented this place all that much (probably because it was a 20 minute walk away). No doubt it has changed a lot since I lived down here (though quite a lot of pubs have significantly changed since that time). The sports bar is still there (though no doubt has gone through significant renovations), and they have since added a restaurant and a pretty decent beer garden. One afternoon when I had a day off work, I decided to visit this place with a friend, and that was when we discovered the beer garden, and since that time have made a couple of other visits as well (due namely to the beer garden). Mind you, since it is basically a suburban pub, and is a bit of a distance to travel, it is not one that I regularly visit.

Customer service was very good by smiling friendly people. We asked for more free bread rolls and got them with a smile. My steak was cooked just right and bigger than I expected.

Great range of dishes, could be a bit cheaper but still not overly expensive. Had 6 dishes on our table & everyone really enjoyed theirs. Friendly waiting staff who were v quick to take away plates/glasses at end of meal, as well as to help (for e.g. to give some more of their delicious bread rolls). All up a great place for a meal.

The Lockleys is a bit of an old favourite of mine. Always the first choice when celebrating a birthday in the family. Great choice of main meals and salad bar, lovely outdoor area, friendly staff (also some games to occupy the kids!) Nice comfortable place for a good meal in nice surroundings.
