Max's Diner used to be my absolute go-to place for lunch where I knew I could get a lovely, fresh salad for around $6 everyday but I have been saddened to discover lately they have really dropped the ball.
Nowadays when you go in, their salad bar is a mess with pretty limited variety of ingredients. What used to set Max's apart from everyone else was being able to design your own salad with any gourmet ingredient you could imagine but now you'd be lucky to get a pre-made Caesar Salad (unless they are out of that too).
