Our 10 year old cat collaped and we took him to Mt Hutton pet hispital. He was in extreme discomfort and we expressed our concerns to the vet. She appeared fairly dismissive to our concerns and no pain relief was given to him. We got a call a few hours later saying he was sitting up and come and pick him up and take him home as they were closing. On pick up we were informed that his condition had deteriated drastically and that they were closing soon and we should take him to The Emergency Vet hospital in Broadmeadow. We were also told they were unable to find out his problem.
We took him there and a few hours later our poor boy died of a burst intestine .
A few days later we did an autopsy and was informed he died of a burst intestine due to a cancer ...read more
Hi I would not recommend this practise.I have been taking my dog for a few years here, only for routine injections etc.I have recently had to take my dog as he had a large growth that came up quickly in his stomach. The male vet (with years of experience)felt the mass did a routine scan, threw a whole load of stats my way,and advised me to take my dog home, feed him whatever he wanted, check his gums regularly because when they are pale I will know to bring him in to euthanase him,as that will indicate he is bleeding out(mass was on spleen)I advise that will be hard as his gums are black. He advised that in his opinion my dog had an aggressive cancer, and if it were his dog he would put him down.He offered absolutely nothing else other than that, even though it was evident my dog was in extreme discomfort, and was finding it hard to walk because of this mass.I just felt devastated.I decided to get a second opinion and rang around some vets.I was ...read more
I would like to say that Mount Hutton Pet Hospital vets have always given our fur babies the very best of care. Last week we had to say goodbye to our dear little girl of 17 years. She suddenly had heart failure and we drove her straight there without even ringing first and they saw us straight away, they were very caring. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye and when the vet came in he explained everything that was going to happen, then asked if we needed more time. When we were ready he went slowly and talked us through the process, he was very kind and softly spoken. We even got a sympathy card a few days later. Thankyou to the wonderful staff who made this very difficult time a little easier.
I would like everyone to know about the service received at Mt Hutton Vet and why I would not recommend them. It wasn't a decision I took lightly when considering whether to complain but I think this should be known given that I know there most certainly are vet clinics that do not do this. To my disgust, a $30 fee had to be paid to be present at the time of the euthanasia for my dog, my best friend of 14 years. $30 to have a friendly face in the room after being taken in a back room with strange people and having a catheter inserted in the leg. We were taken to a consult room to wait for him. He was bought back in to us in the room. Where we would have been spending our last minutes with him, that didn't happen as the vet come in immediately and he straight away done the procedure. Before I could blink my best friend was gone and as if that wasn't hard enough to see, that vet did not even look at us and he did not ask us if we were ready and he did not even ...read more
