Interesting that the NSW Writers Centre is partially Government funded and yet has close affilations with identities which influence outcomes such as who may advertise with the Centre, some that are refused obviously in direct competition with those entities. Have now commenced an indepth enquiry as to how our tax dollars can be abused in this way
I just want to say thank you so much for such a fantastic day. It is my first YA & C Festival that I have attended at the Writer's Centre as I am only a beginner at writing. I wasn't sure what to expect but the sessions chaired by the publishers were so encouraging and helpful that I went home with a wealth of knowledge and insight on writing, and what makes a good book and how to prepare my manuscript to send to a publisher.
I felt completely honoured to listen to the experience of Zoe Walton, Lisa Berryman and Sarah Foster and to feel their heart for reading, and I left on the day feeling inspired by their hope for the future of the book industry and vowed to take on board all their advice with fresh hope for my manuscript.
Thanks again for such a great experience,
I recently won the International Book Award for my self-published book of poetry "Electrical Models of the Real World". I would never have achieved this without the advice and support of the NSW Writers' Centre. Over the last 15 years I have attended many workshops and writers festivals there, met many knowledgeable people and been kept informed of publishing opportunites and writing competitions through the NSW Writers' Centre newsletter. Thankyou to all the people who work and volunteer at the centre to keep it alive.
