O'Dowd Christie Hair

Very friendly welcome upon arrival and offer of tea / coffee and magazines, warm and relaxing atmosphere. It has taken me some time to find a hairdresser that I will return to since moving from abroad. I have visited O'Dowd Christe twice now and will be booking a return visit soon. The first visit was for a colour and cut, this done by A very competent female stylist and overseen by Michael for an expert finish. I had a skilful up-do by Clare on my last visit and had so many compliments at the event I attended. The style included curling and braiding, remained in place all day and night.

I have been to O/Dowd Christie Hair 3 times but it was my most recent experience that compelled me to sign up to True Local and write a review. I was having a terrible day on the day of my appointment. I went to park my parents oversized car in the car park and somehow managed to park so badly that I nearly scraped the car next to me and I also parked it in. I went to my apointment and explained what had happened and told them I was going to be late. I eventually managed to get my car out and arrived at my appointment 35 minutes late for a 45 minute appointment. The staff were so nice about it and managed to squeeze me in an hour later for my appointment even though they didn't actually have any appointments available on the day. I'm not sure of the girl's name who cut my hair but she did a really good job. My hair was blow dryed by a few different members of staff. Best salon in town. Have been seeing Michael for a long time and through the couple of salons he has worked at until he opend up O'Dowd Christie. I have complete trust in how he cuts and have always been happy with my my colour. Hilary who has been doing my colour is wonderful and I feel like it is my second home and always look forward to my next appointment. If you want a non pretentious environment with the up most professionalism you could do a lot worse than given these guys a chance.

I have just left this salon in tears. This was my third visit and I have been extremely happy with colour by Lisa & cut by Michael, however today was a dreadful experience. Contrary to previous visits, the head massage I received today was perfunctory at best, just a rub on sides of head. I then made the mistake of complaining (quietly) to Michael and was met with such a nasty response that I still can't quite believe what happened. Michael told me that there had never been any previous complaints and that he would not allow me to "put down" his staff. I tried to explain that it was not my intention to "put anyone down" but thought that possibly training was lacking. Michael's response was that he "did NOT have to train anyone". When I also tried to describe the "massage" Michael appeared to be furious telling me he didn't "want to hear it" and just talked over me. I was so upset that I said I would prefer to leave. I'd heard from various friends who'd been, that this salon had opened up in Claremont a while ago and had terrific stylists who were well known around Perth. Having recently moved to the Western Suburbs I've been trying out local shops, cafes etc. Tried to get in the week before Christmas but of course they were booked out but the lovely girl on the phone said to come back in early January and I wouldn't be sorry. I was happy to wait and she wasn't wrong. From the moment I walked into this amazingly cool looking salon I felt very welcome. "Would you like a drink"?, "Yes please, a flat white". The much needed coffee and little biscuit arrived as soon as I'd sat down, perfect. I had my colour redone and had my shoulder length hair completely restyled in a short bob by Clare. I don't think I've ever been happier with a hair makeover. Great cut and colour with highlights. The blow dry was so professional it lasted over 5 days. Price was average for Claremont.
