Paddington Grind is a smallish cafe in the middle of the Paddington's happenings. It is practically just larger than a whole in a wall to allow some seats inside the cafe and equal number for street-side seats.
The cafe has all day breakfast and lunch menu. I ordered salmon eggs benedict (priced at $13.90) and it came with two serves of sourdough, salmon, eggs and the hollandaise sauce. There are no greens or tomato, so it was quite plain looking. The taste was quite alright but the salmon bled its colouring on the plate, which was quite unusual.
Sadly, they do not have fresh juice and they only have bottled juice which are served in the glass bottles they came with.
The service was super quick and pronto. They are always on their toes to clean the table as soon as something happens. Therefore, it is not so much of a place for catch-up place but rather of quick eat-and-go place.
I've decided not to go back to this caf after having had to leave twice because my coffee took so long to come - I think they make the many takeaway coffees ahead of the table coffees. Admittedly, both times were on a Saturday morning when this place is bursting at the seams mainly with cyclist groups taking up almost every table. What I minded is that no one really seemed to care when I had to cancel my order - I think the management is just making too much money to bother. I would have gone back again if their attitude towards a long-standing customer had been different. Having said this, if you choose a quiet time, the service and the coffee are both good!
I agree!! The coffee, food and service have gone DOWNHILL!!! So many other fresher options around.
