PAWS Welfare
Rescue, Rehabilitate, Re-HomePAWS Welfare is a non profit animal welfare group dedicated to the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Re-homing of unwanted animals in the Shire of Swan and surrounding areas.
PAWS Welfare is not government funded, it is totally reliant on public donations to continue its vital animal welfare work.
PAWS obtain animals from veterinary surgeries and council pounds. These animals were due to be euthanized.
PAWS also obtain felines from the general public who for various reasons are unable to continue care or required assistance in their re-homing due to time constrains. We also care for felines who have unfortunately outlived their families.
PAWS has a no euthanasia policy (no animal will be put down for non medical reasons). All felines are kept in real life conditions (not in cages unless sick or new to PAWS), and will be re-homed in their own time.
PAWS do not use cages or kennels (except if sick or new to PAWS), instead we have established a network of foster homes, so that the animals can be observed and cared for in an environment similar to those of the future homes.
As of August 2010 PAWS has re-homed 29 felines for the year and a total of 510 felines over 9 years.
PAWS also run an Animal Ambulance, which is offered as a free service to retired pensioners and for emergency transport for animals to vet.
PAWS also run Community Education and Companion Programs. We visit schools with animals to educate about responsible pet ownership. We also visit retirement and community centre to enable those people who are unable to own their own pets, the ability to experience and enjoy the company of our felines.
PAWS Welfare is a member of the N.D.N. (National Desexing ...read more
