Only a kilometer or so walk from the city in Gouldbourn street was little Pigeon Hole.
This place was friendly, service very efficient, the food (what we had) delicious and the coffee just awesome!
Highly recommend a visit if visiting Hobart.
We had the croque monsier and the chicken liver parfait with sage butter, pickled veges and sourdough - the parfait was just incredible - wow - please step out and try this for breakfast you will be pleasantly surprised (if they still have it that is!)
Even better, everything is paddock to Plate as they are own by a local farm - definitely recommended

Lovely little cafe in West Hobart! The freshly baked bread served with meals was absoultely delicious. And the coffee is good. Food menu is small but tasty, we had no trouble finding good options. Appreciate the lower prices than standard brunch places these days - perhaps with portions smaller than you'd get at some other places but I don't mean that to say they're small at all - they're very good value for the prices and we left perfectly full. Recommend for sure.

Pigeon Hole cafe is an old-school home-style-convert cafe with charming decor to match. Located just minutes drive from the centre of the Hobart, it has that small local cafe atmosphere with both outdoor and indoor seats on this small spaced shop.

The food offerings are quite limited, with only breakfast-themed foods and soups that are being served right through the late afternoons. They also only serve hot drinks (ie. no iced chocolates etc) with the exception of juices and bottled beverages.

The organic buckwheat porridge was a healthy dish with a light hint of cinnamon and strong prunes, and the croque monsieur was quite simple but neatly done with shaved cheese.

Overall it was a nice little cafe with its own niche offering and you either love this place or it is just not your cup of tea.

The staffs are friendly and cheerful with their courteous small talks, and very patient too.

The best coffee in Hobart! Service is excellent too. I love the homemade baked beans if you get the chance to stay for breakfast. The menu isn't huge but what is done is done well. I love that even though the cafe is small they never hurry you through your coffee no matter how busy.
