Zoos
Rockhampton Zoo
I love taking my two young children and friends whom come to visit I go about once a month I just recently went again and heard the chimps are eatting donated food I would love to know how to donate food and what sort of food I don't believe locals are helping enough and I for one would love to donate
I love spending an hour or so wandering the Rockhampton Zoo with the kids & friends. There's monkeys, chimps, emus, loads of birds, crocs, koalas, kangaroos, wombats, snakes, monitors & more.
The Zoo is free to visit (but you can leave donations here & there throughout the place to help with the upkeep of the Zoo & care for the animals).
The animals do have lovely clean spacious enclosures to live in. And there's lots of info also either from the keepers or signs.
The Zoo is set next to the beautiful Botanical gardens & also a short walk to the sweet Japanese Gardens. Both are well work a look. There's also a cafeteria that sells postcards, some souvenirs, hot food, drinks, ice creams and snacks.
Definitely worth spending time here if you're in town!
The zoo is a great way to spend a couple of hours in Rocky... and best of all, is FREE.
Tho be sure to leave a donation at your favourite exhibit.
Allow a couple of hours to wander.
Lots of Aussie animals, free-flight bird aviary, chimps/monkey area etc.
Great place for the kids or international tourists when visiting.
