Sappho Books - Tapas & Wine Bar
Sappho is a must visit for those who enjoy reading over a good cup of tea or coffee. Peruse their multitude of floor to ceiling bookshelves over two stories, once you have selected a stack to your liking, order a drink and/or nibbles and read. If anything grabs you, buy it on your way out! The books are all second-hand and very cheap, and the coffee is good. The perfect way to relax on a Saturday after the Glebe markets!

I found one on the eastern side of the city, and now I’ve found one on the west, namely one of those bookshop cafes that you unfortunately don’t seem to find in Melbourne, or if there is one in Melbourne, I simply don’t know where it is. Anyway, I discovered this after visiting the new bookstore next door and I have to admit that this one is so much better. In fact I couldn’t move my head without seeing a book that I wanted to grab, and ended up grabbing more books that I had originally intended to do. There was an awesome range with an awesome atmosphere, and if I had more time I would probably be sitting in here with a nice pot of tea reading a book, out the back in the cafe (or even amongst all the other books). All I can say is that this place rocks.
Right on glebe point road it looks really inviting on the outside since it’s also a bookstore! It’s got a really nice and relaxing atmosphere where you can enjoy your cake or dish with a book in the courtyard. You couldn’t tell that it has a courtyard by just looking from the outside but it’s worth a visit with good food and vibes.
