Shanghai Night Restaurant

Very busy, very popular restaurant. Must arrive early or prepare to wait in line. Staff take your order quickly and waiting time for food is generally pretty quick too. The Peking style pork with pancakes is a must! So tasty, saucy and sticky!! The dumplings are also very good.

You'll find an establishment with every variation of Shanghai in its name along the Ashfield food highway - Shanghai Night, New Shanghai, New Shanghai Night... and for something different, Taste of Shanghai across the road.

We visited Shanghai Night one weekday afternoon and despite there only being other two other tables of diners, service was a little slow and somewhat abrupt. However, the on-site made dumplings are tasty and very reasonably priced.

Another house for dumplings, similar to the other dumpling places on the main Ashfield strip this place has better noodles and seafood dishes for late night dinners.

Service is as per normal, less interations and faces that seems unfriendly, however we did enjoy the food and mainly the dumplings.

Come early to avoid waiting for a table and staff rushing around, 5pm-7pm is a good time to dine.

Classic Ashfield Shanghai Chinese joint. Go straight for the dumplings, lots of them, add a shallot pancake, some greens, yum. Local favourite for a cheap, delicious dumpling feast.

Today was the third time I have been to Shanghai Night. The food is average, service is really bad. I have also twice (out of three visits) had to wait for ages and ages for dishes. Not recommended.
