Another great stay at a beautiful hotel.
Stopped for one night when attending an event in Melbourne and enjoyed a great stay.
Only slight inconvenience was a tower-wide blackout for an hour or two in the morning.
Staff always friendly with a smile and 'bonjour.'
Was comped a fruit salad as they couldn't do my breakfast order til power came back on.
Having stayed at this property several times and other more budget to mid-price ranged properties, this is one of the standout iconic ones. I stayed in a suite on the executive floors admiring the view of the Melbourne city skyline. I could even see Rod Laver Arena from my room! It's a very sophisticated and elegant hotel. The executive suites have an extra double lounge bed in the living room area, and a larger than usual desk space to set up office. Room service standards are impeccable. I ain't out mostly while here, though the room service order I had of Thai inspired chicken was pretty top notch. Definitely a favorite every time I'm in town!
The Sofitel is all class and definitely at the higher end of the Accor chain. The high tea is a fun event, especially in cold Melbourne winter weather. It's not a cheap event at $100 a ticket but is enjoyable and perfect for a girls day out with make-overs, prizes and giveaways champagne and all manner of nibblies and sweets. It's a clever revenue-raiser during the quietest season and makes you want to stay here.
