Sushi Maru has become a favorite local spot for a quick bite. It has a modern decor with a sushi train counter and a couple of tables at the back. The sushi rail is installed with a scanner and the plates are micro-chipped to monitor the time each dish has been on display. Service is friendly, although at times lacking in initiative.
There is a good variety of fusion-style sushi with prices ranging from $3 to $6. Most sushi pieces come with tasty made-on-site sauces. A favorite dish is the aburi spicy crunch salmon. The made-to-order gyoza and chicken karaage are my other favourite dishes.
Overall, a solid suburban sushi train joint.
I was happy to arrive to the place and having good attention to find me a seat in the train; the staffs were kind and welcoming. Five minutes later, I got a new plate from the management; they indicated these were new octopus balls. I bite one of them and the octopus inside was even ...read more
I'm so glad this place has opened up in Gordon! The fit out is modern and trendy making for a fun atmosphere. It is a standard sushi rail setup with plates varying from $3.00 - $5.50 (or there abouts...) and bar style seating. There are also a few tables perpendicular to the rail. There were so many delicious things travelling around the conveyor belt including daily specials, gyoza, takoyaki and even green tea ice cream! Staff were friendly and helpful.
