I've been here a few times, and it seems to have changed a bit at my most last visit, though maybe because it was my first evening visit, when they sell alcohol . The food was good, though it was the wine that was a bit pricier, I think my friend said there's often live music at night, in that case you don't mind paying more for the entertainment via food and wine prices .
Tablespoon has become an institution on the lower north shore. The coffee is to die for and the food is cafe food at its finest. I disagree with the previous review about value and size of meals. The burgers are huge, the pie in a pot is amazing, their daily winter soup is brilliant and authentic, the open chicken sandwich is big and awesome And that's just lunch. Breakfast is great too. Pancakes, French Toast, Porridge, Eggs with the lot...... all big portions. We love this place, the coffee, food, Scott the owner and his young good looking and really friendly team
I had breakfast/brunch at Tablespoon with my sisters, parents and gradparents just before christmas. I did appreciate the ample parking and the nice atmosphere but was dissapointed with the value. The breakfasts are very expensive when compared to similar places so I was expecting large and impressive meals. They were however quite small and nothing too special... for example my sister got eggs and toast and only recived one small piece of bread. Plus we had very average service. Our waitstaff was most unfriendly and when we asked to take a group photo staff quite unimpressed! We ended up having to ask a random passer to take the shot for us.
I can't believe I never came here earlier! Came with a girlfriend on a Saturday morning after finding out that out usual cafe was closed. This place was packed! Lots of parents with their children. Cafe seems dog friendly, as saw many people sitting with their dogs outside.
Was very impressed by the menu selection and the all day brunch. They also had gluten free options, which my Coeliac friend was ecstatic to see. Food is slightly pricey, although the plates sounded good. I ordered the smoked salmon wonton stack with avocado, rocket & dill mayonnaise as it sounded interesting. Didn't take very long to arrive and was not only delicious but beautiful on the plate as well! Loved it. Only criticism is that the smoked salmon wasn't the best I've had, but it was good cafe food.
Tea is more expensive than a regular coffee here due to Table Spoon using T2 tea leaves.
Will definitely be back! Fantastic to have such a gem so close by :)
My wife and I are incredibly fussy about the coffee we drink and we use Tablespoon as the benchmark. The coffee is not only better than all, but is also made by a really cool barista who
is obviously passionate about his coffee.
Tablespoon is always a hive of activity with many people dining in or take aways. The food is fantastic and the menu is changed regularly.
As a cafe, this place is number one... for quality, service and consistency
