The Claremont Hotel
Established in 1900.The Claremont is, at least in some ways, your typical corner pub built at the turn of the last century, while in many other ways, it is completely unique and refreshing.
For a start, The Claremont Hotel was stylishly refurbishment a few years ago, and as a result, the interior makes the place feel like a trendy inner-city bar, but at the same time, the original pub features and atmosphere never quite leaves you.
The pub hosts an array of features that can easily be distinguishable at any other drinking outlet in and around Perth, such as a large bar and lounge area, a terrace room and a bottle shop that is attached to the rear of the pub.
In that regard, it is a usual corner pub, but I guess the particularly friendly staff, intimate bar area, large mix of people who range from all demographics, and the fantastic internal structure and extensive beer and wine menu makes up for this and in doing so, creates a rather odd and intriguing mix between old and new / pub and ...read more

Just had a memorable visit to this iconic hotel for dinner. Loved the new hotel refit and fresh personality of the eating areas. We ordered the delicious prawn roll and the perfectly cooked sirloin steak. Loved the presentation of our meals. Some unique flavours and friendly professional staff. It was also comforting to be able to view the care and expertise of chef and kitchen crew preparing our meal. Well done! We will be back next time we visit Perth.
I guess the great thing about this pub is that it is conveniently located near a rather major railway station. This means that there are a number of trains that go past so you can always jump off here and have a beer and be reasonably confident that another train will be coming along shortly. As a pub it was okay, nothing all that outstanding, though the service was pretty good.
Not just your average pub grub here- delicious food you wouldnt expect from a hotel setting! There is also live music and upstairs venue hire which is free when a bar tab is bought! The toilets could have been cleaner and the floors were a bit sticky but overall was pleasantly surprised with the standard here!
I really liked the food and the service at the Claremont so I had decided to throw my birthday party there. I booked the Terrace Bar which has an excellent view and can accommodate plenty of people. I didn't have too many people though, probably around a hundred. There was still plenty of space left to move around. The service was fantastic since the waiters were really friendly and like I said earlier, their food is really praiseworthy.
