The Garden
The Garden restaurant is within the Wests Ashfield Leagues Club. The club has undergone huge renovations and it has resulted in a beautiful bistro type restaurant with hanging plants and themed garden décor. It is bright and open and you can see the chefs work away at their meals and also the woodfired pizza oven in action. With friendly service, we were looked after by waiter Dean, who has worked at the Club long before the new renovations. He explains to us that the Garden is a farm-fork concept, with head chef Oliver Heath, celebrating the use of well-sourced local ingredients direct from the farm. Ethically sourced and sustainable products with an aim to minimise waste. These aspects are a key to carrying out their vision. He even pointed out one of the county butchers who was in town and came to see how his product has been delivered on the plate.
Awesome fit out with lots of windows and having plants. Heaps of tables and plenty of room for a function. Staff are nice and friendly. Menu is good, has a good variety of dishes. The pizza is very good. The salt and pepper calamari were really tasty. Each time I've ordered meat it has been hard and difficult to cut.
Lunch time specials you can see advertised outside the club but not inside the club and not even on there menu
We ordered the lamb shank, it did not melt off the bone, the meat was harder than expected. My missus fish and chips was standard stuff and had a few small pieces of fish instead of one piece, still small portions.
I think the waiter forgot about us,when we sat down it took what felt like 5 minutes before we could wave someone down though they served other tables
When we asked about the the lunch specials we saw downstairs, they said YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR IT! Ummm why doesn't the waiter tell you about it? Why isn't it on the menu? It feels like false advertising to me. And they said it half the size of what we got (the fish and chips) but the portion size for the fish and chips was already small!
The Ambience here is really nice but I won't be back, food, price and service all need to change
Did you know there's a great new place called "The Garden" located in Wests Ashfield Club. I recently check out the venue to get an insight into their food, how it's made and to hear from where it's sourced. The venue of The Garden is leafy lovely and you will literally feel like you are sitting in the garden. There is gorgeous greenery all around the ceiling and walls. There's also large tables suitable for groups and families. In terms of the food, it's best described as "farm to fork" or as I like to say "legit" with their Italian menu.
Mid morning Mother's Day and The Garden was catering to the overflow from the yum cha restaurant. It's completely self-service; order and pay at the counter and wait for your order. We just had a couple of coffees but it's a nice looking space, with hanging greenery and floor to ceiling glass windows, to enjoy drinks or a meal.
