I find the Good Guys to only really be good guys if you know what you're looking for and if you have already performed some research and know what the price range should be. They won't go out of their way to give you a discount and one thing I really hate is you can't just go in, pick up the item you want and take it to a checkout. You have to wait until they find a salesperson to take your order. Only then can it go through the sales counter. I asked them if the salesperson - who I had to wait for - got a commission and they said yes. It bugs me that someone is getting paid a percentage of the money I paid when they didn't do anything and I had to wait around so it could happen. I also got conflicting advice from their salespeople on dishwashers so I recommend Choice magazine over their staff instead. So, by all means, go to the Good Guys but be prepared before you enter.
There are pros and cons to this store. The pros are that the staff are knowledgeable and mostly helpful. They are very competitively priced and will always do you a good deal. The negatives are that they provide little to no after sales service - once they have made the sale they don't want to know you. I also feel that they can be a little dishonest when trying to sell you something but perhaps most sales people are like that these days. After saying all that, I keep going back there because their prices are hard to go past and they have a great range of products.
