My wife and I have frequented the Mabel numerous times after discovering it over a year ago. The food is extraordinary along with outstanding service. Coffee has always been perfect (double late). The specials board is always a good choice, the Chef always is creating new additions to the menu. With 2 under 2.5, there are toys, coloring books and very spacious bathrooms. Staff always have gone out of the way to accomodate the kids making them feel welcome. For such a tucked away cafe, it is always packed, the regulars seem to be known as "the usual" is often said by the barista.
Located in a small cluster of shops near Quarry Road, so easy to miss since it's not off any main road, but it's a wonderful surprise. Décor is a mix of vintage, industrial and modern, but it works and is certainly a nice addition to the eastern suburbs. Woo hoo for the automatic door especially if you have a pram. Service was really warm and friendly as we were greeted and farewelled by not only the person who waited on us but by other staff as well so that's always nice and seems a rarity these days. We just came in a for a quick cappuccino and babycino, and also received a bottle of water and glasses which was great. The coffee was quite decent and I'll definitely be back to try some food next time.
