Thynne Road Deli And Cafe

Quality with the emphasis on taste

Sick of cooking food in other people's kitchens, Richard Gruber decided to leave the hotel cooking industry and start up his own business. The 'Thynne Road Deli and Cafe' is the result, and the locals of Morningside sure are glad about Gruber's career change.

The cafe specialises in serving fresh, organic and tasty breakfast and lunch foods, most of the items on the menu are made completely from scratch daily (try the homemade baked beans). A range of European deli meats (such as wood smoked ham) are also prepared by the team at 'Thynne Road', and available in dishes on their breakfast and lunch menus.

There is a kids menu to cater to the littleuns and pets are welcome to sit outside by the tables. Start your day with a hot home cooked meal (or maybe so muesli if you're feeling like something lighter), then polish off a gourmet sandwich for lunch. Have been to Thynne Road Deli a couple of times as it is just around the corner. The staff are friendly and the coffee's quite good, although the food menu is fairly basic. Overall, a quick and easy lunch option.

I work in Morningside and about once or twice a week I treat myself to lunch from this cafe. The food is always nice, however the experience is always let down by a few younger girls who work there behind the counter. They never smile! When I'm on my lunch break trying to relax for 30 mins, the last thing I want is a sullen face staring blankly at me as I'm ordering my food. What happened to basic customer service? I hope the manager of the cafe reads this page as it truly lets you down and is something that needs attention.
