Wests Ashfield Leagues Club

My partner and I went to the club last Thursday night, , lured mainly by your promotion of the major cash draws and other minor draws from 7pm onwards. We arrived at 6:45 with the intention of eating at Golden Times, and joined a queue of people waiting for a table. I left my partner in line to go and grab a menu, only to find none in English. I asked a young waitress about this, and her boss, standing behind the counter nearby, said “No English menus”. He didn’t even look up from what he was doing. No eye contact. The girl was apologetic but her rude boss was abrupt and dismissive. So we went to the Garden and got a table there. After about half an hour my partner went to ask someone when the draws would commence, and she was told they already had! So, in order to hear your number called you are apparently forced to sit down at a poker machine downstairs !) or squeeze into a very limited seating area at the top of the escalators. Plenty of parking on sight, also a courtesy bus available. Plenty to do in the gaming area, lots of pokies and a decent outdoor smoking area. There is a chinese restaurant and modern pub style restaurant also. The Garden restaurant is a big space with lots of plants and windows, great place for a quick bite or for a function.

Finally, a genuine farm to fork destination where ingredients sourced support our local farmers.. From the Bone Marrow toast to the Roast Pork, the design of the menu ensures there is little wastage. Casual dining with simplicity at its core. Favorites on the menu were the Mundroola Farm LAMB RIBS - slow cooked and so tender they completely fall off the bone with lightest brush of the knife. Drenched in BBQ sauce and laid on top of Tzatiki - it is impossible to fault this dish and provides all the comforts and satisfaction you would expect from your local Leagues Club.The TASMANIAN OCEAN TROUT had a crispy skin and was nicely cooked. This club is very heavily dominated by poker machines. There is hardly anywhere to just sit and have a drink, a few high tables that's it. It looks like the lounge area has been taken over by the restaurant.

I was sitting near the bar when a staff member told me to move because the table was reserved for six diners. I said "but there's no reserved sign on the table" He very curtly told me that he had run out of reserved signs, had lots of restaurant bookings and he wanted the table for those people. What he didn't say but he obviously meant was that those people were more important to him than I was so I could just get ...lost!

staff are rude and no manners. customer service is rate last in this club. don't go there if you look for enjoy a good night in a good venue
