As you will not doubt have heard by now, the glorious minds behind the Tella Ball Shake from Foodcraft Espresso & Bakery have pulled some more Nutella magic out of their sleeves. As of Monday February 29, the Tella Ball Dessert Bar will be setting up shop in Dulwich Hill.

Rumour has it that the dessert bar is going to include a veritable smorgasbord of Nutella dishes with everything from a Nutella five-stack pancake tower and Wagon Wheel gelato, to homemade crepes, waffles and Nutella soft serve. Explore a little further and you’ll find cabinets stuffed to Nutella-inspired desserts including cheesecakes, cupcakes, brownies and more! Oh my!

To celebrate this wonderful new undertaking, we sat down with Aki Daikos (co-owner of Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery).

It just has to be asked: how did you come up with the whole idea of a Tella Ball Milkshake?

The Tella Ball Shake was created one crazy afternoon when we decided to put our famous Tella Balls (Nutella doughnuts) on top of our famous Nutella milkshakes. We then posted it on Instagram.

That’s when a food blogger called BreakfastinSydney posted on her Instagram. We received 4000 likes in 24 hours and went viral in every publication you can think of worldwide.

We noticed that you actually have a few different flavours of Tella Ball Milkshake: Nutella, salted caramel, vanilla-bean ricotta, and five berry jam. Which one’s your favourite?

Our favourite flavour is Nutella, of course; it’s our signature.

We can’t argue with you there. So – the dessert bar – how did that come about?

My inspiration to open up the Tella Balls Dessert Bar was because I wanted to create something amazing where people can come and have the most amazing dessert experience in one place.

What can we expect?

It’s the first Nutella dessert bar to open up in Australia and the concept will be based around making gelato in house, crepe artistry, pancakes, waffles, shakes, coffee, Nutella soft serve, a display of amazing cakes and a lot more.

Tella Ball Dessert Bar can be found at Shop 5, 372 Canterbury Road, Dulwich Hill from 11am to 11pm every day from February 29, 2016. Mark it down in your calendars folks, because we’re pretty sure this is one opening you won’t want to miss!
