I rented a female dorm room in mid September this year while I was visiting my grandparents, and was pleasantly surprised with this humble backpackers and bar.
I paid $25 which came with linen, which I thought was reasonable, and although there were musicians playing downstairs on the friday night, it finished up at a reasonable hour and the bar staff allowed me to have free entry to the gig happening downstairs as well as cheap drink prices, which was awesome!
Hope to visit Launceston again in the future, and I will have no hesitation with staying at the hub again!
This place seems to be going through a lot of changes at the moment but it's a great little place. It needs a bit of work, but the core elements were there - value for money, great staff, lots of entertainment.
It's also a great place for those people looking for gay-friendly entertainment or accommodation in Launceston, as there's not much around.
The hub is not only for accommodation but also doubles as a bar/night spot, restaraunt and ice-cream gelato bar.
The place, especially the area where it substitutes as a restaraunt, is old. It has a lot of charm, and the locals are very friendly (especially the red head behind the bar) they welcome you and attend to your need. It's just a shame the venue is so run down and needs an update to bring it into the 21st century!
