What a great place to buy Docs .. the range is very diverse, the shop is such a cool place to visit and the customer service is .. well it is the best . This is my fourth pair in in about 30 years .. Docs last and I love em. And I love going to a place with character to to get mine
I am from interstate and recently bought some Doc Martens from Downes Shoes. They were very happy to post the shoes at what I think was a very reasonable price. I received the friendliest customer service when placing my order over the phone. This wonderful customer service continued through regular messages from them as they tracked and checked the postage handling and they constantly let me know where and when my shoes should arrive. Would buy another pair of Docs through Downes Shoes anyday.
I just had the worst customer service experience of my life at Downes Shoes. When I asked for a warranty replacement on my doc martens (which had a manufacturer defect on the padded collar), I was immediately accused of mistreating and damaging my own shoes. After a week of waiting for an outcome I was finally told I could come in store to pick a new replacement pair. When I was handed my new shoes and about to leave, the store owner decided to teach me a lesson in customer service. She called me an a##hole to my face, stating that it was my fault the shoes were faulty and I dont deserve the warranty replacement.
Do not shop here. The customer service is appalling and my treatment was completely unjustified. I was in no way demanding or rude. No one should be treated like this. Perhaps there should be a lesson in customer service for the owner who, by the way, was the one that called me an a##holein front of her staff member.
You know ... Downes must be the most customer service focussed, quality working shoe shop and professional repair centre in Australia. Whoever you are ... I can't imagine what you must have done and how you must have behaved. (And you don't even put your name to things ? )
