I've lived as a local in Hope Valley for 42 years, and this chicken shop has always given us the best in food and service!
I love the lady assistant who always asks me about dim sims! I must have a double who comes into the shop and buys them up, as I cannot ever recall buying dim sims from this shop under its current management!
When my favourite local chicken shop was closed I thought I'd give this a try. It was busy and I guess a positive is they had a very regimented order to ensure they could take everyone's order in order. Unfortunately this made me feel like I was just a number (especially when all orders are called out by number).
Prices were higher than I'd expect - I only had chips but certainly their chicken prices were more than I'd pay, but the size of chips was bigger than I expected. Chips were nice, well cooked - no over or undercooked ones sneaking in there.
It was OK but not enough to get me back.
I don't know whether I was just unlucky but if I had raided an Egyptian tomb and unwrapped the mummified remains of a pharaohs prize rooster it would have contained more moisture than the inedible chicken I was served last night. Combine that with the wilted, tired and soggy greek salad and slightly dodgy curried egg salad and you've got yourself a shop I will never ever go back to. I was quiet unwell after it and ended up going to bed sick at 7.30pm. The chips were OK I suppose.
absolutely shocking i hate writing this as:
For many years they were a good local chicken bar but after 3 times in a row the price has risen every time and the food standard has lowered to the point of my family members and local friends through different sporting clubs not going back..
for example the SEAFOOD SALAD has been disgraceful they have plenty of prawns on top of the salad in the fridge, but when the serve it for you they scoop from the bottom so in a large($11.00) salad i got 3 prawns, and when i went back in and asked why there was no prawns they said abruptly i was lying and it was only prawns
the fish also was soggy<
the chicken deals well overpriced<
Average staff (under new managment), good service, good chips the only thing that peeves me is no beetroot on the hamburgers, at least other shops do so why not this one. And yes they do compensate with the odd freebie, salad etc if your wait is longer than normal. Good on you guys, You remember me I am the one with the big jugs.
