Left of Field, located on the water at Rhodes has been a popular café for a few years now. Ever since it opened, it has been buzzing with visitors. I visited early in its opening to sample the earl grey pancakes with popcorn and they have updated their menu regularly and I hence revisited to sample their new offerings.
You must visit for the pancakes. These are not the kind of pancakes you can mix and flip yourself at home. These are the type that a super fluffy, yet crunchy on the outside and like a mix with a muffin. They are then sent into overdrive. The Pavlova pancakes are like no other. Topped with meringue crumbs, passionfruit coulis, pieces of kiwi fruit, strawberries and blueberries. On the top is a caramelized banana and served with a side of vanilla custard cream. They are begging to be devoured. And devoured we ...read more
This place always seems to be popular, went on a rainy summers morning and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. The staff were super friendly and attentive though. The fit out is very modern with white tables and walls, timber features and plants. The food is also a more modern take on brunch with Asian fusion dishes and unique flavour combinations. Definitely a great new brunch spot in Rhodes and I hope more cafes like this open up soon. Only negative is parking can be a nightmare, with limited street parking and time limits.
There is a seemingly neverending queue at this popular Rhodes cafe. On arrival we were warmly greeted, and despite being informed of a wait of up to 30 minutes, were seated within ten minutes.
They have a nice all day breakfast selection and we had the granola, steak sandwich, pork burger and kids breakfast of bacon and egg on toast. Food came out in a timely fashion and was all very tasty. The sweet potato fries and sriracha mayo that was served with the pork burger was amazing!
Although I prefer my granola on the crunchier side, there was a decent serving of berries and pomegranate plus labne to add sweetness and creaminess to the granola. The earl grey tea poached pear was an interesting addition but I didn't feel the flavours worked with the dish.
Definite thumbs up for the service.
I came here as I saw on instagram how fanastic the food looked - I went with 6 friends on a saturday morning. It was quite busy but we managed to get a seat quickly. I ordered the pancakes, and although it looked good on instagram, they weren't as satisfying while I was eating it. It is a very loud cafe too, which can be annoying at times. I would definitely go back to try something else to eat, and probably sit outside. Nonetheless, the service was good though.
went to this place because I had seen so many photos of these popcorn pancake plates that it was like they were calling my name.
Anyway just suited us that we were going to a party out near the location. We got there and there was a bit of a wait but we could put our name down on the wait list. We told the man we were in a bit of a hurry and couldn't be late. He was one of the most helpful waiters I've ever met. He kept updating us on how long it wold be and even gave us a menu and let us order before we even sat down so that it would be ready straight away. Quality ...read more
