The Melbourne Age Feb 7 2012 Business section, page 3. "Double - shot espresso for coffee shop group. Australia's, largest, coffee shop chain, The Coffee Club group, sales up 18.5%. Have plans to open a store every 2 weeks for the next 5 years". Outstanding! What is the secret for such success? We went and visited this franchise. For a quick snack from their display cabinet, Pumpkin bacon frittata & salad. The frittata was tasty and accompanied with a fresh made colourful salad. Also we had a toasted ham croissant. The coffee was well made, with a pleasant after taste. (no charge for a double shot) This franchise takes centre stage in the Bay City Shopping Centre, Opp Myers, this is a very busy location, yet the staff were friendly and efficient. The Coffee Club is as the card reads; Good Food, Great Service, Excellent Coffee. Where will I meet you?
My mouth waters every time I sit down and look at the coffee club's menu. All the photos of the snacks and meals are refreshing to look at, and when served my meal, it too is almost picture perfect! The prices could be a little more reasonable.. But once you start eating your food and drinking your coffee, I'm sure you won't be complaining.
The only thing I can say that disappoints me, is it's location... Right in the middle of Westfield with people rushing by you while you try to relax can ruin the moment.. A quiet corner location with a little ambience would make the coffee club, that tiny bit better!
It would be hard being situated in the middle of a shopping centre, this shows in the lack of cafe ambiance and style in their cafe 'space'. I got a takeaway cappucino and as I watched the barista make the coffee, I must say I was impressed. Everything looked perfect. When I went to sip my coffee though, I scorched my tongue. It must have been over 70 degrees! The taste of the coffee was ruined by the burned milk and I would only go back if I was desperate.
