The Tea Room - Gunners' Barracks
Located in the historic Gunners' Barracks overlooking the harbour at Mosman, The Tea Room is open for traditional afternoon tea, a la carte lunch, private celebrations and weddings. Enjoy tea with an exquisite and historical feel.
Walk past the big guns outside on your way into this elegant old sandstone building overlooking Sydney Harbour with Shark Island in the foreground. This is a localâ??s spot, as few tourists will make tracks here (we recommend taking a ferry to Taronga Zoo and then catching a taxi). The china crockery and silver service make the experience proper with finger sandwiches, jasmine tea and scones. Thereâ??s a lovely stroll too with jaw-dropping coastal views to walk it all ...read more
I thoroughly enjoyed the high tea I had here with a group of gal pals. We had our own private room, but more on that later. There's a real sense of arrival, and you become aware of the military history of Mosman. Great views from this place which I presume once had something to do with weapons and artillery. Delightful macaroons and other yummy treats all served on the high cake stand, and we had round tables which was nice, easy to talk to others and the carpeted floor makes it easy so you don't have to shout. Cool place to take someone from out of town so they can see the special vantage points to the harbour that Mosman offers. Recommended.
What a swanky place for high tea and with such a beautiful sprawling view of the ocean. Gunners Barracks is a bit of a pain to get to, it took us a while to find it, but it is definitely worth it. We had the champagne high tea and were spoiled with the usual high tear fair of mini sandwiches, cakes, pastries, scones and tea. As far as the treats, it wasn't my favourite place food wise but it was still really good and that view!!!
I never knew there was a Tea room in the middle of the Barracks! It was quite difficult to find the place as there was no maps/signs pointing. But when we eventually found it and was seated, the view was breathtaking. We all ordered champagne high tea. I was not too keen at the fact that there were too many sweets rather than savory, so we could not finish everything as it got way too sweet. However it is a beautiful place to have high tea with your girlfriends so defs make your way up there there.
Well I went back again for the High Tea. It was a lovely atmosphere with lots of pretty old flowery China. There was a mix of sweet and savory items. The hot food whilst not looking appetizing, tasted good. The scone was okay, the sandwiches were delicious and we didn't have enough room in our bellies for all the sweet treats so thy offered take home boxes without us asking. It is $45 including tea or coffee. Or $50 with sparkling.
