Torrens Valley Christian School
I can recall some good memories of the trips I went with the school. I will admit I have met some really friendly and likeable teachers and studied good subjects, but there have been some of the most obnoxious and rude teachers I've ever seen which make 'teen drama' teacher characters look real. I heard parents complain about the teachers being a "hit or miss" and I don't blame them at all. I witness kids get yelled at for not putting their hands up in class and they also get yelled at for getting the answers wrong. There's another teacher who can't teach the subject material at all, and just goes on about things that are not relevant like his holidays and what he saw on the news. Another problem with the school is the really wacky idea of combining R-12 students in such a small campus as both primary and secondary campuses had different lunch times. When I had lessons near the primary campus, we had little kids coming to our windows to heckle us ...read more
4 years after my previous review of this school, I have to say I'm still incredibly impressed with the educational prowess and caring nature this school has for my 2 kids who attend here. They've had different teachers each year and each has shown the same individualised attention to the kids' needs, an often innovative manner (one classroom now has 4 different zones that a child can choose from depending on whether they want to 'feel' or 'experience' or sit/stand etc) and in a very noticeable contrast to schools we've previously had our kids in their school reports and parent/teacher interviews are actually honest and helpful, not just copy/paste.
The school's also continued to be considerate of our financial situation which has meant we can continue to send our kids here.
Full marks, 10/10, A+ for this school!
I have never found such a caring, personalised, academically sound school as this one. Our daughter spent a couple of years here before we moved interstate, and there is no doubt in my mind she would have stayed there had we not moved.
A fantastic sense of community exists between the staff & families and the kids - you can tell that the staff want to be there & have your kids' best interests in mind. There's no problem in approaching any of the staff with any question and they do have time for you. And they're not money hungry: fees are well and truly lower than they could be.
Christian is their (sort of) middle name & they don't just have it there, they live it out - but in a loving manner, letting kids work things out for themselves.
Well resourced in terms of rooms/equipment.
Can't speak highly enough of them.
