"Umami" is the fifth basic taste discovered by Japanese scientists, the other four basic tastes are sweet, sour, salty and bitter. Umami is best described as a strong savoury taste. Umami is the taste of glutamate which naturally exist in food like cheese, mushrooms, broths and ketchup.
Umami Restaurant will be exploring "the fifth taste" with dishes in share plate format designed by a team of chefs lead by award winning Chef Minh Le. Umami Restaurant & Bar is a smart casual venue with great selection of wines and drinks. We are located in Brisbane?s Chinatown mall on the corner of Ann St and Duncan St in Fortitude Valley.
